Pearson Airport travel tips you need for the busy holiday season

The busiest time of year for travel is upon us. If you want to get to your destination as smoothly as possible, these Pearson Airport travel tips will come in handy.

Toronto’s international airport is among the busiest in North America, even more so during the holiday season.

The busiest travel periods is the week leading up to Christmas and the days around January 9th when kids return to school, according to the airport.

Thankfully, Pearson has introduced a number of services and tools to make this time of year easier for both passengers and airport staff.

One of the best new tools is YYZ Express, a free-to-use online reservation program that lets you book your spot in the security line up to 72 hours before your flight.

There are also two new dashboards you can keep an eye on.

The first one is a live wait times dashboard that gives you real-time information about lineups and the second is a peak travel times dashboard that lets you know whether you’re going to be at Pearson during a busy period.

New measures have been introduced by the Canada Border Services Agency, allowing you to submit Advance Declaration documents to customs and immigration up to 72 hours before arriving in Canada.

United States Customs and Border Protection has a convention Mobile Passport Control app, which allows you to digitally submit your info if you’re travelling to the U.S. from Pearson.

As always, you should be arriving at the airport three hours ahead of an international flight and two hours ahead of a domestic flight to give yourself enough time to get to your gate.

It’s also important to keep in mind that if you’re taking holiday gifts through security, you should keep them unwrapped as all packages are subject to inspection.
