Makati City, Philippines – It is going to be a star-studded Santacruzan as beauty queens and showbiz personalities lead the annual Maytime festival of Barangay San Lorenzo on May 27 on the Glorietta 2 Activity Center, Makati City.
Bb. Pilipinas International 2021 Hannah Arnold, Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2022 Chelsea Fernandez and Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2022 Gabby Basiano will add pomp and grandeur to Makati’s most-awaited Santacruzan.
Kapamilya actor, model and singer Joseph Marco will likely be escorting Hannah Arnold (Reyna Emperatriz), while Kapuso actor Derrick Monasterio will likely be escorting Chelsea Fernandez (Reyna De Los Flores).
Except for the three major titles, 27 pairs of the loveliest and best-looking female and male representatives from Barangay San Lorenzo and nearby communities who were chosen by a technical committee headed by Kagawad Marlene Po and the San Lorenzo Ladies Circle, headed by Fely Vergara.
Sagala participants will wear the creations of noted designers, including Ramon Esteban, Gener Gozum, Glenn Lopez, Antonio Garcia Jr., Stephen de Leon, Ronaldo Arnaldo, Sophia Theres Manimbo, Angelito Perez, Perfecto Diaz, Jose Antonio Martinez, Roseller Morabe, Gerardo Sunga, Albert Fontanilla, Philip Torres, Nicky Jay Martinez, Cora de Jesus Manimbo Fashion House, Rolando Lirio, and Rodolfo Nazareth Ching, with the special participation of Oskar Peralta.
Santacruzan highlights include the presentation of the Sagalas and escorts and awarding three special prizes—Best in Filipiniana Santacruzan ensemble, Best Themed Filipiniana Santacruzan, and Best Sagala and Escort.
The panel of judges consists of actress and former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, Makati City councilor Ichi Yabut, fashion guru and Natasha Goulborn Foundation founder Jean Goulborn, award-winning interior designer Ivy Almario, and entrepreneur-founder of Taters Enterprise Inc. Annie Tanchanco.
The parade will start at 5:00 pm on the Barangay San Lorenzo covered court, and can go through Makati Avenue, Parkway Drive, West Street, Palm Drive and end at Glorietta 2 for the 7:00 pm show.
The festivities will likely be followed by the Himig Pinoy concert, featuring the favored ‘90s OPM band, Neocolours.
The Santacruzan is a significant event of Salu-Salo Sa Sanlo 2023, an annual summer tradition of Barangay San Lorenzo conceptualized by Punong Barangay Ernie Moya.
“We’re very blissful to bring back this tradition after having been abruptly disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Our constituents at all times look ahead to being part of those thematic events to showcase their creative flair and forge stronger bonds amongst our fellow residents,” says the outgoing barangay chair.
Except for the Salu-Salo sa Sanlo 2023, Moya has also lined up several projects, similar to the Kapihan with Kap online community forum and the Kasambahay Night set in June.
