Greek travel and tourism associations joined forces with the Municipality of Athens to promote tourism through a series of jointly organized events and initiatives.

The Municipality of Athens, the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA), the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Tourist & Travel Agencies (FedHATTA), and the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ADDMA) signed a memorandum of understanding during the two-day World Travel Agents Associations Alliance (WTAAA) general assembly this week. Among others, goals of the agreement include reaching out to new markets and promoting outwardness.

Addressing the assembly, Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis welcomed WTAAA member associations from Canada, Australia, South Africa, the US, Europe, Latin America, South Korea, Hong Kong, India and South Zealand to the Greek capital, which he said, “combines history and the modern era” and is always ready to host large events and travelers from across the globe.

WTAAA member associations and travel agents met in Athens to discuss international tourism trends, issues concerning global travel agents and sector professionals, and new ways of reaching out to international travelers.

During the Athens assembly, HATTA presented its new online publication promoting Athens through video and photo content which can be used by market professionals and tourists.

WTAAA selected Greece for its assembly in efforts to further strengthen its cooperation with Greek travel agents. The WTAAA assembly was organized by ΗΑΤΤΑ and FedHATTA with the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the Municipality of Athens, ADDMA, Athens International Airport and AEGEAN Airlines.
