How I travel: Ellie Bamber reveals that overpacking might actually be a good thing

“I lost my heart in…”

“Antiparos in Greece, which is so unspoilt, and has great food, amazing people, gorgeous wine… Also Formentera, where I went this year and rode around the island on a Vespa.”

Confess to something you’ve taken from a hotel room

“Well, it was a gift, so I didn’t take it as such, but I walked in a Chanel show at the Ritz in Paris, which was one of those ‘What is my life?’ moments, and the hotel gave me a mono-grammed robe. I still love that robe so much.”

Which foreign phrase do you overuse?

“‘C’est la vie.’ When you travel, you have to think like that – it’s maybe why I don’t feel I’ve had any really bad holidays. It’s very hard to be annoyed at anything for long when you’re on the move. There are always ways to make things great when you’re on holiday.”

What would you most like to find in your mini-bar?

“I’ve really gotten into orange wine recently, so a bottle of that, please.”

Nominate your eighth wonder of the world

“I filmed a movie called Prisoners of Paradise in Mauritius, and we shot at this beautiful, secluded waterfall in a tiny oasis. Swimming there felt completely magical.”

How do you relax?

“If not reading or watching a film, I like to cook. When I was in Thailand, I had lessons from a chef there, so now I always go to Thai recipes when I have people over.”

Which is your favourite city?

“London, where I live, or Rome, which I’ve visited a few times. The fact that you can walk around and stumble on a Caravaggio in a church… And the pasta. Obviously the pasta.”

Ellie Bamber stars in “Willow” on Disney+ streaming now.
