The Nayong Pilipino Pilipino Foundation (NPF), in partnership with AirAsia, proudly launched their groundbreaking tree planting event, “Taking Off For A Greener Future.” This collaborative initiative marked a major milestone of their joint efforts to combat climate change and foster a more sustainable future.

Celebrity volunteers similar to Joj and Jai Agpangan, Andrei King, Althea Ablan, and Prince Clemente graced the occasion with their enthusiastic participation. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the gracious invitation to partake on this momentous event,” says the Agpangan Twins. “It’s with great hope and enthusiasm that we join hands and foster a collective awareness to contribute towards the betterment of our beloved planet Earth” they added.

The event is considered one of the initiatives under the agency’s project Sambayahinan. Its primary objective was to unite individuals from diverse backgrounds, similar to community leaders, environmental enthusiasts, and the younger generation, in an energetic and collaborative endeavor to revive our surroundings through reforestation.

Nayong Pilipino and AirAsia firmly imagine in the ability of community and environmental stewardship. Together, they’ve crafted an unforgettable experience that mixes education, advocacy, and hands-on engagement.

As a co-host of this remarkable event, AirAsia recognizes the environmental impact of aircraft and is committed to addressing the pollution issue.

Nayong Pilipino Foundation Executive Director Gertie Duran-Batocabe shares, “We gather as a unified force with a noble mission that extends far beyond merely planting trees to sequester carbon dioxide from our surroundings but to offer back to the Filipinos by helping us create a greener and more vibrant space, which can be the long run Nayong Pilipino Cultural Park.”

“We laud Air Asia as they exemplify their dedication to walk the talk in achieving goals of offsetting carbon emission. We hope this can function an inspiration to other corporations as well to take their responsibilities in our fight against climate change.’”

During his speech, AirAsia CEO Mr. Ricky Isla shared a private anecdote about his newfound passion for plants, referring to himself as a self-proclaimed “plantito.” He highlighted that this interest had emerged through the pandemic, as he recognized the importance of our surroundings and the vital role they play in our well-being.

Mr. Isla stressed the importance of connecting with nature and preserving the environment and expressed gratitude towards the Nayong Filipino Foundation, anticipating future collaboration.

The “Taking Off For A Greener Future” tree planting event represents step one in a long-term partnership between Nayong Pilipino and AirAsia; together, they aim to undertake various environmental initiatives that foster a way of environmental responsibility amongst the general public and contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
